How it works
How it works, from first question to funded
Five steps, no jargon, and a person on the end of the phone the whole way.
- 1
1. Tell us about the business (about a minute)
What you need, what it's for, your region, how long you've been trading and whether there's property in the picture. There's no credit check to ask.
- 2
2. A person rings you
Someone who understands how cafés, shops and clinics trade reads your enquiry and phones you — usually within business hours on the same or next working day.
- 3
3. We talk through the fit
Secured or unsecured, how much is sensible, what timing is realistic around your season, and what it will take. If there's no good fit, we'll tell you.
- 4
4. Paperwork, only once you're going ahead
Typically recent business bank statements, ID, your NZBN or company details, and property details for secured options. You'll know exactly what's needed and why.
- 5
5. Approval and funding
Once approved and signed, funds are paid to your account or straight to whoever needs paying — the shopfitter, the vendor's solicitor or Inland Revenue.
What makes it different
Most comparison sites collect your details and pass them along. We don't. Your enquiry is read by someone who understands main-street trade — the difference between a winter-quiet café and a summer-quiet gym, or why a salon's chair rental income matters — and they talk to you before anything else happens.
We arrange business-purpose finance only: property-secured business loans from $20,000 to $5,000,000 — first mortgages, second mortgages and caveat-style security over residential or commercial property; and unsecured and cash-flow options for trading businesses, typically $5,000 to $500,000, sized on turnover and bank statements. Bad credit and IRD debt considered case by case.
Before you enquire
It helps to know roughly how much you need and what for. If you're not sure, try the cash gap estimator to see which months run short, or the fit-out budget checklist if you're planning a new space.
Common questions
Does enquiring affect my credit score?
No. There's no credit check when you first enquire. A credit check is only discussed once you've decided to go ahead with a specific option.
Will my details be sent to lots of lenders?
No. Your enquiry stays with one team. We work out where your business fits rather than broadcasting it to a list of lenders.
How quickly can funding happen?
It depends on the option and how quickly paperwork comes together. Smaller unsecured amounts can sometimes be arranged quickly; property-secured loans need a valuation and legal work, so allow more time. We'll give you an honest timeline on the first call.
What should I have ready?
Your last six to twelve months of business bank statements, photo ID, your NZBN or company number, a rough idea of the amount and purpose, and — for property-secured options — the property address and any existing mortgage details.
Can you help if my takings are seasonal?
Yes. Seasonal trade is normal on the main street. Twelve months of bank statements show the pattern, and we can talk about timing repayments around your busy months.
